Haldi & Mehendi Photography in Mumbai
Haldi and mehendi are the loudest, most colourful and least controllable events of a wedding week — and usually the ones families enjoy most. They are also the hardest to shoot well, which is why they deserve dedicated coverage rather than being treated as a warm-up to the wedding day.
Haldi: colour, chaos and equipment
Haldi is a genuine test of coverage. Everything is yellow, the light is often harsh open sun on a terrace or in a courtyard, and turmeric gets everywhere — including on cameras. It moves fast and it does not repeat.
There is one practical request we make of every family: keep the haldi function away from the camera equipment, and let us know in advance where the function will be held so we can plan positions. Beyond that, the more it runs as it naturally would, the better the photographs.
Mehendi and sangeet
Mehendi is the opposite problem — slower, more intimate, usually indoors and dim. It rewards detail work: the design forming on the hands, the bride's expression while she waits, the aunts talking around her.
Sangeet is performance coverage. Rehearsed items need to be shot from the right angle the first time, so knowing the running order in advance genuinely changes the result. If you have a specific sequence you want captured, tell us before the function starts.
Covered as photos, films, or both
These ceremonies work exceptionally well as films because so much of them is movement and sound. We shoot both traditional and cinematic films for haldi, mehendi and sangeet, and our haldi films are among the most-viewed work on this site.
