Candid photography is about not interrupting. Instead of arranging the moment, we stay close enough to catch it — the mother's face during the kanyadaan, the friends collapsing with laughter behind the mandap, the two seconds before anyone realises they are being watched.
How candid coverage differs from traditional
Traditional photography is directed. The photographer sets the frame, gathers the family, and makes sure the ceremony steps and group portraits are recorded cleanly. It is the coverage your parents will look for in the album.
Candid photography is observational. Nothing is staged, so the frames arrive out of order and out of our control — which is precisely why they carry the emotion. Portraits of the couple are captured within the candid coverage rather than set up separately.
One thing worth knowing before you decide: if you book candid photography only, traditional photographs will not be captured. Most couples in Mumbai book both so that the family frames and the real moments both exist.

Shooting candidly in Mumbai venues
Mumbai weddings are frequently tight on space — banquet halls with low ceilings, mandaps hemmed in by seating, corridors doubling as getting-ready rooms. Candid work in those conditions is mostly about anticipation: knowing which ritual produces which reaction, and being on the correct side of the room before it happens.
That reading of a room is what the award juries have responded to in our work, and it is the part of the craft that cannot be replaced with equipment.

- What is the difference between candid and traditional wedding photography?
- Traditional photography is directed and covers ceremony steps and family group portraits. Candid photography is unposed and captures reactions and moments as they happen. Portraits are captured within candid coverage.
- Can I book candid photography on its own?
- You can, but traditional photographs will then not be captured at all. Most couples book both so the composed family frames still exist.
- Do you retouch candid photos?
- Every delivered photo gets colour correction and enhancement. Skin retouching is done for portrait frames of the bride and groom.
